WHAT IS A HAND THERAPIST?
Registered Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists who, through further education, clinical experience and independent study have become proficient in the treatment of upper limb conditions resulting from injury, disease or deformity.
Samantha Marwedel and Fiona Evans are both members of the Australian Hand Therapy Association. Hand therapists provide treatment for patients from orthopaedic surgeons, plastic surgeons,GP’s and other health professionals. They consult every Thursday with Dr Myers at Sydney Orthopaedic Specialists, Prince of Wales Private Hospital. Referrals are not required unless for compensable patients such as Workcover.
Our hand therapists can provide a range of therapies, exercises and treatments to help reduce pain, regain movement, and build flexibility and strength to restore hand function.

Thermoplastic and neoprene splinting
tailored exercise programs
muscle testing/grip strength
sensory testing,sensory re-education/ desensitization
joint and tendon mobilisation
scar management/ wound care
oedema control
